The inspiration for Platonic Elements came from things I learned from a really cool video by the people behind Vsauce. The video explains how Plato once believed that the basic elements of the universe (fire, water, etc.) were made up of tiny particles in the form of what we now call Platonic solids. If you’re a TTRPG nerd, you love Platonic solids because that describes most of the dice you use (all the standard ones except d10s)! Our dice can literally form the elements themselves! How cool is that?! I see a lot of fun potential in this idea, and this is my first real iteration of it. I'm hoping other opportunities and ideas come later that can allow me (or you!) to expand this idea to something special.

Although this game is generally setting agnostic, it is perhaps best suited for settings in which elemental magic can play a prominent role. Anything from wizards in a school to elemental monks could work with this game. The point is to play with the elements using our dice in a way Plato would possibly be proud of.

This game was made for the Caltrop Core Game Jam, run by Titanomachy in December 2021. This was my first time participating in a game jam (except for that one time I chickened out), and this is one of the first two TTRPGs I've created (the other, Caltrops, Cloak, and Dagger, was also part of this same game jam). Because this game has not been meticulously playtested, feedback is welcome & appreciated. If nothing else, I see this game as an avenue to explore some cool, fun concepts that I see potential in.

If you try this game out, let me know! I'd love to hear from you via email (barondipitous@gmail.com) to let me know what you think!

Please enjoy, and make it a great day. :)
