"You could protect yourself from what’s to come, but you can’t contain your knowledge. If you continue, you’ll secure your results. That’s why you’re here.

"You complete one rotation of the uphill path to find a table & chair placed on the spot where you started. On top of the table is a desktop computer. The screen turns on, despite the lack of wires or electricity in the vicinity. The screen displays an article. You sit down to read."

While prior familiarity with the SCP Foundation may enhance your experience in certain ways, it is not at all necessary. Links to resources are provided throughout the document if further reference is needed, but all such links are considered optional, except at the very end.

Beyond making a play on the word aspire, my hope with this “game” is that someone who has never encountered or explored the SCP Foundation can be introduced to its universe & ideas in a way that is immersive & thematically appropriate. Like many games written in the Aspire system, this experience can be whatever you want it to be.

As we know, it’s not about the “results,” but the journey we make to reach our next beginning.

This game was made for Aspire SRD Jam, run by S Kaiya J. in May/June 2023. Because this game has not been meticulously playtested, feedback is welcome & appreciated. If nothing else, I see this game as an avenue to explore some cool, fun concepts that I see potential in.

If you try this game out, let me know! I'd love to hear from you via email (barondipitous@gmail.com) to let me know what you think! I’m especially interested in any creative ways you find to use this tool/game. Let me know!

Please enjoy, and make it a great day. :)

I love how you incorporate lore into the things that you do, even in physical games! I check out all of your work on itch.io today and you always have a great mind for this stuff.

Thanks so much! I would be up to my shoulders in SCP if it weren't for other fandoms because I think it's so cool! I figured this was one small way to show my interest in it.

There are just so many cool stories & things out there, and I don't have the time to devour all of them. But I do what I can with what I have. <3

Fun little way to interact with the SCP Universe. As a journaling game or as a means of sparking a creative bit of fiction for the SCP wiki, I think it could be a wonderful resource. It does rely on referring to the scp-wiki entry for multiple entities which can slow down play, but I don't see any reasonable way around that so, it's something to note but is not necessarily a deterrent to the ability to enjoy the game.

I read through and did a play-test of this as part of a blog, where I go into more thoughts about it here: https://peakd.com/hive-189497/@oblivioncubed/solo-ttrpg-first-look-ascpire-by-ba...
