This game was made for the 24-word RPG Jam, hosted by W.H. Arthur, breathingstories, Steffie de Vaan, Rook and Role in January 2024. 

I was particularly inspired by the “Dracula/Renfield” game included in Min's 24/7, another submission in this same jam. I liked the idea of preparing your resources for a classic confrontation, as well as leaning hard into the themes of the source material. I figured I could try something similar with Gatsby.

I had so many different ideas for this jam, including making a series of short games, each representing a different fantasy class or weapon or even a literary character, that would each be played on its own or combined into a larger bonus game. Maybe I’ll figure that out some other time. In the end, I decided it was more important to finish a game in the time limit, so I came up with this.
